PRESENTATION.

A very pleasant ceremony took place at the residence of Mr L. R. Freeman, retiring secretary of the local Racing Club, last evening when the local trainers and caretaker made him the recipient of an enlarged photograph depicting an unique event in the history" of hurdle racing. The picture shows four horses Sir Fisher (A. Laurence), Arlington (G. Trail), Confusion (A. McDonald), and Waitomo (D. Crawford), taking a hurdle simultaneously at the local meeting. It is a wonderful piece of photography with all the horses above the obstacle in line. Some happy speeches were made appreciative of Mr Freeman, both as an official and sport. The recipient feelingly acknowledged the kindly feeling which prompted the gift, which he promised to treasure.
