THE TAURANGA SEAT.
LIBERALS UNANIMOUS FOR SIR JOSEPH WARD.
WILL GIVE ANSWER TO-DAY.
Auckland, Last Night. At a conference of Liberals at Te Arolia, Sir Joseph Ward was asked to contest the seat. Sir Joseph intimated Hint he “would give a definite decision regarding his candidature for the Tauranga seat tomorrow. If he secured loyal support as had been promised, he had very little doubt that the seat would again lie a Liberal one. OFFICIAL STATEMENT. Wellington, Last Night. Air T. Al. Wilford, Leader of the Opposition, stated to-night that he had been advised regarding the meeting of delegates of the LiberalLabour Party at Te Aroha to-night, ihe meeting which considered aspirants to the post of the Party’s candidate for the Tauranga seat was thoroughly representative, and was presided over by Mr R. J. King, who had been mentioned as a likely candidate. The delegates unanimously and enthusiastically declared in favour of Sir Joseph Ward as the official candidate of the Party. Sir Joseph, when waited on, expressed his gratitude at their good wishes and the unanimous resotu- 1 tion and promised to give his ans- } wer to-morrow.
