CHOICE OP A CANDIDATE. Wanganui, February 27. On-being'Questioned further today regarding the. Tauranga seat, Mr Wilford stated that he was in touch' with thb Liberal-Labour Federation of Auckland. The body functions in seventeen Northern constituencies' including Tauranga, which district has its own representative in the executive of that Federation. That member of the executive is now in Tauranga in connection with the selection of a candidate. - It is probable that the Liberal--Labonr speakers in the forthcoming contest will be Messrs Wilford, Veitch,‘ ! The Labour Party has decided to contest the Tauranga seat by a resident of the electorate if available; if not Auckland will find a candidate. -'j . MR MacMILLAN TO CARRY REFORM BANNER, Tauranga, February 27. As a result of a meeting of the supporters of the Reform Party, held at Te Aroha last evening, Mr C. E. MacMillan, of Tauranga, was chosen as the official Reform candidate for the Tauranga by-election. SIR JOSEPH WARD MAY STAND. Auckland, February 27. Replying to a request made at Te Aroha by electors from various parts of the electorate, Sir Joseph Ward said that if it was-the general desire he would be disposed to 'favourably consider placing his services* at the disposal of the people. ANOTHER REFORM CANDIDATE. Auckland, Last Night. D. Adams, who contested Manukau at the general elections announces himself as a candidate for Tauranga in the Reform interests.
