ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Auckland, Last Night,. Mrs 1. A. Clarke, also known as Mrs Sarah Phillips, aged 74 years, died in hospital, as Ihe result of burns received in a tiro in a threeroomed cottage to-night. It is presumed she fell asleep, leaving the candle alight near her bed.
Thames, February 23.
A farm house at Pipiroa was destroyed by tire this morning. The remains of Edward Arthur, a soldier settler, were found in the debris. His wife and three children were away at the time. Deceased who was a native of Kent, aged 34, saw service with the Rifle Brigade and was wounded.
