BOWLING.
A match for the Golder Cup was played yesterday afternoon, the challenging rink being skipped by Huntley. The game was closely contested throughout, the result being a win for the challengers by a margin of three points. The following are the details : Ball, Downes, Roore, Huntley (s) lfi.
Parkin, Healey, Ross, Smith (s) 13.
Owing to the absence of several members of the Nye Ferns team, no mateih w’as played yesterday for these trophies.
A centre gala day was held or: the Palmerston North green yesterday when 16 rinks participated. Poxton was represented by one rink, consisting of Pearson, Walton, Christie, Admore (s), who were successful in a match against a rink skipped by W. Janes, the first scores being 17 —15. The green was- in good order and a most enjoy >,hle game resulted, the scores being even on several occasions during the course of play, and on the twentieth head Foxton was three up. Jones added one to his score from a difficult, head, and left the visitors with a margin of two.
The next gala day will he held at Levin on Saturday, and Foxton Club lias been invited to he represented by one rink. Players able to make the trip are requested to post their names on the Board.
The committee of the Bowling Club are requested to meet at the secretary’s office at 7.30 this evening to meet representatives of the Tennis Club re acquisition of new grounds.
