CURRENT MAGAZINES.
The Red Alagazine, December 22, to hand, contains selections of fiction by the best known magazine writers of to-d'ay. There arc stories by James Barr, Stuart Martin, Donovan Bayley, etc. all cleverly illustrated. Edmund Snell continues his fascinating series “The Yellow Seven” and the story in this issue is particularly thrilling. The “Red” is published fortnightly and is one of the most popular of the “all-fieton” magazines and may be obtained at Heath’s. That popular all-fiction magazine “The Premier” continues to improve each issue, and the Christmas number, just to hand, is especially good. Nellie Tom-Gallon and Calder Wilson commence a series of stories and introduce Monsieur “Zero,” an entirely new type of fiction detective. Eden Phillpotts, Owen Oliver, A. AI. Burrage, Albert Payson Terliune and many others help to make the Christmas “Premier” a very readable magazine and may be obtained' at Heath’s. Did you know that the chances of being eaten by a shark are less than a million to one? Mr David G. Stead, who is the greatest authority on sharks in Australia, explains why this is so in a fascinating article on sharks in February “Life.” Though the “Shark” article is a leader in February “Life” the magazine also gives other fine features — such as Henry Ford in the Mystery of Big Business; Warwick Armstrong on “The Secret of Bowling,” a great complete story of the South Seas by John Russell, etc. “Life is sold everywhere for Is and is excellent value for the money.
