MILITARY TRAINING.

LOCAL CAMP THIS MONTH.

At Thursday night’s meeting of the local Chamber of Commerce a letter was read from the officer commanding this district in which he stated that it is proposed to hold the second period of continuous training at Foxton during the last week in February if convenient to employees. The writer pointed out that there were eight territorials and 22 cadets who missed the last training period and these will be required to attend the next one. The dates proposed are from February 26 to March sth both days inclusive. The proposal was placed before the Chamber to ascertain if the dates are convenient to employers. It is also proposed to conduct a voluntary course in conjunction with the above trainees who attended the last course and who wish to undergo more advanced instruction.

The president (Mr - A. N. Smith) said the date set down was earlier than last year, but it was a matter for the employers to decide. He suggested that publicity be given to the notification and failing any objection received by the Chamber to advise the officer that the date would be suitable and this course was adopted.
