TIRED OF LIFE.
WOMAN’S PATHETIC FAREWELL MESSAGE. Wanganui, Last Night. “I am doing the only thing that is left for me. I have never known what it is to be happy. I am tired of the life I have always had. I hope that you will manage alright, and that the rest of your life will be happy. My cross has been too heavy to bear and I am going to my wellearned rest. Good-bye, do not fret. Be good to the children .and comfort them in their sorrow for I am going to my long rest.”
The above is the text of a note written by Mrs R. Mat-son, of Heads Road, who is reported missing from her home. Mrs Matson suffered from ill-health and was about to undergo an operation. On Wednesday night she went to bed as usual but the next morning she was missing and her husband found the pitiful note that indicated the worst. A search was immediately made with police assistance. All they found was the print of bare feet in the mud near the Imlay Wharf. To-day the police made an extended search but the river was in flood and their efforts were without result.
