BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING.
A special meeting of the Borough Council was held on Thursday night. Present: the Mayor (Mr John Chrystall) and Crs! Coley, Walker, Rand, Thompson, A. N. Smith and Bryant.
CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows: From Mr E. E. Smith suggesting that the Council permit the use of “Eternit” for the erection of new w.c.’s as well as brick and concrete as laid down in the by-laws.
Cr. Coley said it wasn’t much good having by-laws if the Council didn’t stick" by them.
Decided that the Council is not prepared to allow any d'ivirgence from the by-laws regarding the use of “Eternit” for the construction of new w.c.’s in the rear of brick buildings within the brick area. From the Foxton Fire Board stating that the responsibility of marking the fire plugs is the responsibility of the Borough Council and asking that the marking be proceeded with.
Decided that the Town Clerk obtain'particulars regarding standard practice of marking fire plugs and submit same to next meeting of the Council with prices for painting same.
From A. G. Thomas asking whether Whyte Street is in the brick area.
Decided that the portion of Whyte Street recently opened is not in the No. 1 District.
