The chnirmnn of the local school committee has been notified that the Ashhurst Domain may he obtained on April 21 for the school picnic, if the committee decide on this date.
A contemptible and mean theft was perpetrated at the seaside on Sunday. While a young lady was bathing some one stole her clothes and cut the trimmings from her hat. The unfortunate visitor was provided with clothing by seaside residents.
An acceptable donation was made to the Box ton Silver Band bv Mr John Sullivan, a Woodville sportsman whose representative contested the Fox ton Cup at the-recent meeting. • This gentleman who is also a musician, expressed the hope that the band would be successfully organised in the near future.
If is reported that a visitor to the races had his pocket picked on Saturday and was relieved of about £3O. The Palmerston Silver Band intended to give a concert at the seaside on Sunday afternoon but owing to the weather it had to be abandoned. A concert was held in.the Town Hall on Sunday night, and despite the very inclement weather there was a large attendance and (he hand and other items were much appreciated.
