WATERSIDERS’ BALLOT.

AWARD REJECTED. Wellington, January 16. It has been learned in Wellington on good authority that the voting of the branches of the New Zealand Watersiders Federation has'gone in favour of rejecting the recent award, the results, having been announced to the annual conference in Auckland. “Despite the result of the ballot there will be no strike,” stated a waterside worker to a Post representative to-day. He added that watersiders desire the constitutional method of rectifying their grievances, and that the officials of the Federation, who are also officials of (lie Alliance of Labour, don’t want a strike because they are frightened of the new union which has been formed in Wellington. The ballot was'only a political dodge.
