BOOKMAKER CAUGHT.
AUCKLAND MAN FINED £lo</. Auckland, January 9. The police raided the billiard saloon of William Alexander Spiers, 40 Newton road, last night and secured a quantity of betting materials. Spiers pleaded guilty to keeping a common gaming house and he said l lie was only operating in a small way. The Magistrate: “You people begin in a small way and you grow. You are lined £100.”
