CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Is it not surpjrising what a number of pessimists there are in Foxfon. Many who have lived here and earned good money for years are continually crying down every effort put forth to advance the town. Listen to the following wail one hears from these wise-acres: “The water tower will fail over, it already has a lean.” “The’ septic tank has gone wrong.” “The water is neither good for washing or drinking purposes.” “The drain pipes are too small and will block up.” ' “What a waste of money to beautify the old cemetery, just as well leave it as it was,” and “why tar Main Street?” etc., etc. Is it not time, sir, these whiners sought some back bloek township to end their days? And while on the job, sir, why all the fuss over a band? How many men would do what “Johnnie” has done in the way of securing instruments. If his zeal for a good cause makes him sensitive at times there is surely no reason to throw cold water over his efforts to form a good band. It’s up to the Council to deal with the matter once for all and let the fault finders drop out of line. Let everyone work in harmony and boost our little town as it rightly deserves. Yours, etc., PROGRESS.

Sir, —d take this opportunity of thanking those who are desirous of supporting the Registered Band and for the kindly remarks expressed of its first performance at the recent sports gathering, not forgetting the three hearty cheers by Mr Perreau. The Council have the music and some neeessay instruments held in trust, and I do not wish to make the personal canvass, until these are handed over for the Band’s use. There seems to he a lot of unnecessary red-tape hindrance. The Band is a Registered body, and the Council will have to recognise this fad. The Band will meet during next week when final'steps will be taken to recover the property. T am. etc., J. COLDER.
