HEAVY TRAFFIC ON ROADS.

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL TO TAKE ACTION. FEES TO BE ENFORCED. A good deal of discussion took place at the Manawatu County Council meeting yesterday regarding the charge of £25 made by the council for heavy traffic passing over the roads. From this it appeared that as the by-laws were quite in order and other councils had succeeded in collecting- these fees, the officers should insist on these payments being made. Strong comment was made as to the damage being done to the roads by this heavy-traffic, the chairman, Sir James, Wilson, stating that some roads were so damaged that they were the worst he had travelled over.
