SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT.
TWO AUCKLANDERS INJURED. FOUND UNCONSCIOUS ON ROAD. Thames, December 20. On the road between Waitakaruru and iipiroa, Mr Dalgety, a farmer, discovered an overturned motor car, and two occupants, a young man and a woman lying in an unconscious state. Medical aid and the police were summoned and the two injured people were conveyed by ambulance to uie Tnarnes Hospital, where tliey recovered consciousness. They are Mr Kelvin Cult, aged 21 years, engineer, of f'ipsom, Auckland, and iVliss Uwennie Suntn, school teacher, of Auckland. me man sustained severe bruises about the body, winie the young, woman's injuries are noL so serious. They are reported to be out of immediate danger. Miss Smith was going by motor from Auckland to Kuuaeranga, wnere licr mother resides.
The car, u racing model, left Auckland for Thames. On the hill portion pi the-road between Auckland and the ifauraki Plains heavy rum was encountered, making the roads almost impassable, but the young people decided to continue the journey. Eventually they reached a point where the road 'was quite iinpiussabie, tlie car blocked, by the mud, and there they had to stay for the night. The following morning- the journey was continued. They passed through Waitakaruru shortly before noon, and one mile further on the car capsized. The accident, it is believed, was due to a blow-out in one of the front tyres, causing the car to swerve and capsize.
