Wellington, Last Night. The Plunket. Shield match was won by Wellington by 198 runs. When the game was resumed to-day Wellington had three wickets to fall and 2.84 to their credit. McGirr continued his splendid innings, being dismissed when he had scored 95. The last wicket fell for 396, and Auckland were thus left with 446 runs to get. On a wicket that was beginning to wear, they put up a gallant stand and sebred 337. Snedden, their skipper, gave a splendid display, and made 88, while Dacre’s 68 was not less meritorious. Whelan completed 50 in 25 minutes and Gerrard notched 36, not out. The Wellington bowler’s rose to the- occasion and deserve credit for the way in which they mastered a team containing six test men.
