BOWLING.
A very, successful pairs tournament. was held on the local green on Christmas Day, the weather beideal for bowling. Twenty players took part in the tournament, and the fast condition of the green "made ■S ' the day’s play very enjoyable. The • .tournament, took the form of “proVigressive pairs,” the winning couple moving to the next rink, and changing leads throughout and the contest was decided on the aggregates both for leads and skips. First place for skips went to Smith, with his aggregate of 82, Jno. Ross being runner-up with 79; Parkin was top with 81 for the leads, Ball being runner-up with 76.
Foxton Club is represented at the. Wanganui Centre Tournament by one rink. Play commenced on Tuesday afternoon, and the details, so far available of games played by the.local club arc as follows: — Section D., first round: — Victoria— G. Reed, R. Armstrong, J. Smithies, E. Beckett (skip) 21 v. Foxton —FT Ball, >l. Ross, D. Christie, R. Roore (skip) 17. Private advice received from Wanganui states that Foxton rink so far has had three wins and two losses. The Queensland bowlers were defeated by the Canterbury Club. Each scored two and a-half wins, but points were 112 to 105 in favour of Canterbury. The visitors leave for the South to-morrow.
