SHOP DAY
The' Shop Day which was held last Saturday to augment the funds of the local Rifle Club was a decided success, and was well patronised by the public the whole of the day. A large variety of vegetables, dairy produce, cakes, preserves and other goods were aU cleared by 8 p.m. In addition, there were a number of competitions for valuable prizes. A committee of ladies, comprising Mesdames Head, Headman, Procter, Seabury, and the affair, and, thanks to their splendid efforts and ihe support given by the public, the club is now in a much better financial position than heretofore. The winners ul the various competitions are as follows: Stainless knives, Mr Jim Burr; tray cloth, Mrs R. nine*: double decker cuke, Mrs D. Richardson; dressed doll, Mrs Fraser; jardiniere, Mr G. Mitchell; floral cushion, Mrs P. Jack; pipe, Mr 11. Berry; return trip to Palmerston, Mrs R. A. Easton.
