SHIPPING CONFERENCE FAILS.

SEAMEN WITHDRAW. Wellington, Dec. 12. The Conference between the shipowners and the Seamen's Federation did not result in settling the difficulty. The shipowners submitted a statement of the position, which Mr Young, of the Seamen’s Union, said was an ultimatum and the seamen’s representatives thereupon withdrew from the conference.
