MAORI ELECTIONS.
OLD MEMBERS RE-ELECTED. The Maori elections took place yesterday and with a few small returns to come in which cannot affect the result, the old members were re-elected. The following are the results: — NORTHERN MAORI. . Tau Henare (Reform .... 3316 '* Nan Paraone Ivawiti ... 991 Hone Heke 379 Aranu Ngawaka 412 Ihaka Te Tai 209 There is one return of about thirty votes to come. \ " SOUTHERN MAORI. H. W. Urn (Reform) 287 MacDonald 200 Erihana 153 Barrett 136 Waitiri 16 Two small returns still to come cannot effect the result. WESTERN DISTRICT. Sir Maui Pomare (Reform) 3659 Tokoura Ratana 2898 Rangi Mawhere 799 Tuwhaknririka Patena .. 112 There are still twelve returns to come. MR NGATA’S RETURN ASSURED. Gisborne, Last Night. In the Eastern Maori electorate, Mr A. T. Ngata polled 4,508 votes, Mr Taranaki Te Ua 2,942. Two returns have yet to come but cannot affect the results.
