WHIROKINO ROAD.

SUGGESTED DIVERSION. 'At Tuesday’s meeting of the Mitnawatu County Council, the had state of the Whirokino road was referred to by the engineer, who reported that during the month Cr. Barber and hinxself mad* an inspection of Wirokino road and found it in a very bad state of repair. Four teams and a number of men Were employed by Mr. Ross carting metal and other materal to make the road passable. 'All kinds of vehicles were being bogged. There is nothing more than a floating surface and it is not capable of carrying heavy motor lorries, or heavy traffic of any kind. On our visit of inspection we looked over a suggested road diversion which would cut out about 60 chains of the present swampy road. The suggested new road is on much drier country and not so liable to, flood as the old one, and the cost of maintenance when made, would be considerably less but the first cost of acquiring the laud and constructing the road would be approximately £2,500.
