RIFLE SHOOTING

The first shoot in the second trophy competition, which was decided at the committee meeting last week, was held last Saturday, 15 shots at 300 yards, the handicap limit being 70. The trophies sire donated bv the President (Ist prize), the Retailers’ Association (2nd prize) and the club (3rd and 4th prizes). There was a good dull light on Saturday and the breeze wus slight and fairly steady. Some good scores were put up but several other scores were marred by 2 s coming between a number of bullseyes. There is a strong feeling anioitg members that under favourable weather conditions, such wide shots can only be caused by faulty ammunition. There bas been much evidence of this with the maik ammunition of 1917 make supplied to rifle clubs, and it is causing great annoyance. Scores on Saturday were as follows: 300 yds. 11. cap. Total

To augment the club’s funds and provide improved facilities on the range a Shop Day is to be held on Saturday, December 16th. Attractive competitions arc being ariang- , d, and with the assistance of members’ wives, the effort should be a successful one.
