DONATE HANDSOME CUP TO FOXTON RACING CLUB.

At the annual meeting of the members of the Manawatu Racecourse Trustees held on Saturday last, in Foxton, the chaixinan (Mr John Kebbell, of Levin) in the course of his remarks re racing in this part of the district in the old days made reference to the . fact that* lie remembered the races of 1803. SI. Patrick’s Day was then race day hut later was changed to the 22nd January (Anniversary Day of Wellington Province. It was suggested that as the next meeting in 11)23 would be the 00th anniversary of local racing some recognition should he. made of the event and the trustees unanimously decided to donate a cup to the owner of the winner of the 1923 Foxton Cuj>. This will lie presented by Mr Kebbell on the lawn after the race. The cup will be run at tlie forthcoming meeting on the. first day, Saturday, 20th January.
