ATHLETIC NOTES.

The management committee of the local Athletic Club have now got everything in order for the first -ports meeting to be held on January 2nd. Programmes are now out, and over £SO in cash prizes are offered to competitors. It is necessary that till competitors in the principal events should be registered and registration and nomination forms are obtainable from the secretary. Several generous donations have been received, also an offer of £2O for the gates. Seeing the great amount of interest that is being taken, it behoves all local people anyway interested to pull together and make once more famous for it’s athletic* sports.

The first of a series of euchre parties was held hy the Foxton Athletic Club, in the Town Hall sup-per-room on Tuesday night which was a great success from every point of view. The committee, as a result of this effort, contemplate holding the future parties in the Town Hall, so as to accommodate all the players. The following were the prize winners: —Gentlemen, Mr .J. O'Donoghue (safety razor), consolation, Mr H. Newtli (tie pin). Ladies.—L. McCarthy (box of chocolates), consolation •A. McCarthy (button). Messrs Carter, Hirini and Walls supplied the music for the dance.
