CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.)

Kir, —As a comparative stranger to Foxton, although interested in polities and glad to listen to the views of any party candidate in evposition of their several policies, I was surprised at the conduct of one or two individuals opposed to the 1 gentleman speaking, at the Town Hall on Monday night. It made me think that if such men are a type id:' the parties they represent, then the country would tie much better without them. New Zealanders are reputed, with good reason, to he lovers of fair play in all branches of life, but at that meeting it was the exception which'pfoved the rule. 1 think, too, Unit flic chairman of the meeting might have displayed a lit lie more authority, although lie was subjected to some of the rude remarks ejected. The candidate displayed great patience although if was plain that the heckling broke (lie thread of some of his remarks. While men of the type who carried on the interruptions display a lack of British fair play and ignorance, at the same time such conduct is a relied ion on the community and this is a point which 1 think should ho remembered. If men cannot control themselves they should remain away and have a little consideration for the feelings of others. 1 am, etc., ELECTOR.
