Manawatu Herald TUESDAY, NOV. 21, 1922. MR LINKLATER'S SPEECH.
Mb* I,IXKEATER’S address to the electors of Eoxton in the Town Hall last night created a good impression upon those present. The Reform candidate does not pose as an oralur Iml be unfolded a “plain un\ii.rnislied tale" with an honesty of purpose that w.-m unmistakable. It was plain that he wa- unareusionii,l pi public speaking. In fact lie admitted with characteristic candour that this was the hardest work he had yet undertaken. The running lire of interjections showed that he cniild keep his head and maintain a dignity that was in marked contrast in ihe coarseness of the inlerjceior. Instead of baffling him it luieked him up and brought to light a lighting spirit that smoulders in the dour Scotch lempernment. The interject ions bad the effect of swaying several doubtful electors to become firm supporters of the candidate which augurs well for fhe success of Mr Linklater at the polls.
