ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT.

Ar the meeting of the Borough Council held on Monday night the road foreman reported that during the past month the road staff completed repairs to Main St. footpaths and have given Clyde SI. a top dressing of tar and sand. The staff was also employed on Avenue Road footpath hut sufficient tar is not yet available to complete (his work. They had also been engaged in breaking up o_ld asphalt in the Council yard and this had been used on \unions streets for patching. The sitmi from drainage i: .ch in Russell St. has been a nuisance during the recent heavy winds and they had covered same with weeding* from various water channels. The trees planted on water tower reserve are growing well but quite a number have been pulled out, evidently by children playing there. Civ Martin said that the Council should be more up-to-date in its asphalting. As it. was the roadmen had to sweep the road and use. the sweepings to cover the tar.

Cr. Walker said that the dust was thrown on only to prevent the tar from being trodden about. ■

Cr. Bryant said it was a mistake to take the screenings from the road.
