GAS WORKS.

The following reports were submitted in collection with the gas works at last night’s Council meeting The manager reported that the new setting was completed and up to the present it is giving every satisfaction, both as regards make of gas and quantity and quality of coke obtained. The other apparatus is working fairly well, except the large gas engine which will require a new lining. The concrete tank of the large holder has developed several cracks and the consequence is that the water has leaked out and I have had to pump water into it twice this month, flood progress is being made with the repairs to the other holder.
