TENNIS NOTES.
The unfavourable weather necessitated the postponement of the Levin v. Foxton match last Saturday, hut the visitors who are terribly keen request a match next Saturday, I.Bth inst. Shannon Club wrote this; week regretting their inability to play the Ist round of the Country Cup this month. .All members are again reminded of the special general meeting in the Town Hall to-night at 7.30 p.m.
Ladder matches played (challenger mentioned first) : —Miss B. Pearson 40 v. Miss D. Spiers 26: Miss A. M .Williams 24 v. Miss 11. Mackie 40;-Miss E. Owen 31 v. Miss A. Strand 40; Mliss B. Pearson 38 v. Miss I. Woodrnffe 40; Miss I. Woodnill’e 40 v. Miss 11. Mackie 38; Mr C. Procter 50 v. Mr G. Thorpe 44.
Players who have postponed ladder matches on account of unfavourable weather conditions are expected to play these at their earliest opportunity. Early next week it is hoped that the Challenge Trophy matches may he commenced as the handicaps will then be...published. These trophies are the Robinson Ferns . (open to all players), the Bryant and Soldiers’ trophies (open to “B” grade players).
The Levin v. Foxton match which was post poned last Sal unlay will he played on the home courts on Saturday next, play commencing at 1.30 p.m. The local team is as follows :
Ladies. —Mesdames Me Murray, Moore, Misses C. Beard, G. Robinson, P. McMurray, R. Perreau. Men. —Drs. Wyllie, Rowley and Messrs R. McMurray, C. Bryant, C. Procter, E. T. Jackson.
Emergencies: Mrs S. Austin and M. W. Ross.
A coiiununio.iltion from Iho Shannon Club, who were drawn to play Foxton in the first round of the Country Cup Competition, definitely announces their inability to send a team across this month.
