BOROUGH COUNCIL
At last night’s Borough Council meeting correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: — , Prom secretary Poston Athletic Club, asking permission for the club ib hold a sports meeting.on January £nd'., 1923, on Easton Park and stating the club is willing to put the Park in order of the council will tercet temporary conveniences for ladies and gentlemen. —Permission granted. From A. Wallbutton bn behalf of the residents of Futter and Union Sts., requesting thajt a tap and trough be erected on the corner of Futter and Union Streets. —Request acceded to. From J. H. Tolan, Feilding, foryarding the Council a sample figure for house numbering, stating that the council would no doubt agree that to have the houses numbered uniformly throughout the borough Would be of great assistance to postal authorities, tradesmen, and general public. The charge for same being 1/- per figure of polished brass, all fees to be paid to him. —Resolved that Mr Tolan be informed that while the Council has no objection to his numbering the ltouses in the borough and would be willing to place any information at his disposal to ensure accuracy, it is not willing to give him patronage nor to incur any expense on his account. From Messrs Moore and Bergin on behalf of Mrs A. A. Kinley re sale of lease of portion of Target Reserve to .Messrs J. R. und J. P. Allerby.—Transfer agreed to subject to certain conditions. , From secretary Palmerston N. Chamber of Commerce re efforts being made to secure more satisfactory shipping arrangements through Foxton port and asking if the Council will be willing to make a contribution. —Decided to contribute pro rata share oil a population basis.
