AL Isitt, AI.R. for Christchurch North, referred to “the deliberately lying advertisements with which the newspapers are being Hooded by the Licensed Trade.” Of course Air Isitt takes no risk in making such a wild statement under the protection of “parliamentary privilege.” But whom is lie dubbing “liars f” Let uS see. Amongst those quoted in the Continuance advertisements issued by the Licensed Trade are: — The Lord Chancellor of Great Britain. The Attorney-General of Great Britain. , The First Lord of the British Admiralty. The Premier of Canada. The Premier of Quebec, also: — The United States Secretary for War. The Solicitor-General of L.S.A. The Attorney-General of U.S.A. The Assistant Solicitor-General of U.S.A. The Prohibition Commissioner of U.S.A. The Health Commissioner of New York. The Police Commissioner of New York. The Chief of Police of Chicago. The Board of Aldermen of New York. ’ ‘ The Executive of the American Federation of Labour, ties ides : Twenty Bishops. Many Judges and Doctors. Leading men in'the Literary, Ar- > «jr tistic and Business World, and.— Such great English newspapers as the London Times, Telegraph, and Daily Aluil, and from America, the Now York Tribune, The World, The Chicago Herald, The Philadelphia Ledged, etc. These ax - e not all, buL they suffice to show what is involved in Air Isitt’s sweeping assertion. Are all these people “liars,” Air isitt ? Are they all “bought by the liquor traftieThey must have been an expensive loti What have the Prohibitionists to set against this overwhelming array of evidence from such higb authorities ! Nothing! Therefore they full back upon their cry of “lies!” Prohibition has hau its trials — and it has failed. It has failed detibitely and linaliy. New Zealand will have none of it. Vote Continuance. b 3.
