“Killing a Thirst”
“You can’t kill a thirst by Act of Parliament,” remarked Mr Justice Chapman at the Napier Supreme Court to-day. Counsel for the plaintiff (Mr «B. J. Dolan) had been telling the jury that after next election, possibly, tho hotels might be gelling “those undoubtedly stimulating drinks, such as orangeade and lemonade, which are however unprofitable.” “I’m glad to hear you say so, Your Honour,” was Mr Dolan’s reply. “They couldn't kill mine.” —(Napier “Daily Telegraph,” June 12th, 1922.)
