“The mntier referred to is one of those important issues for Parliament to deal with in the event of prohibition being carried,” said the Prime Minister on Tuesday, when Mr Witty brought under In's notice the position of lessees holding pro- _ pefties under agreements which did not terminate for some years. Mr Witty suggested that seetion i ; ' 294 of the Licensing Act, which gave the lessee power to terminate a lease after fourteen days’ notice, -should apply under the present law. He said if it was a five years’ lease, it could not be cancelled six months after the poll, when the Dominion would go dry, but would have to expire in the ordinary manner. Mr Massey said it would be grossly. unfair for any licensee to have to continue paying, a heavy rental ' I when, his business had been taken . away. ..;
