Procter, W. Howe, R. Ray, Thorpe, McAlister and Tongs bowled for Foxton, and Murray, Harris, 'Hunt, Randall, Small and Mayne for Shannon. Only one innings was played by each eleven. Afternoon tea was provided for the visitors and home players. This is the first game Foxton cricketers have had so far this season, but the prospects are that, with a little practice, a fairly good local eleven can be placed in the field. There is good material amongst local enthusiasts- hut the lack of practice so far this year has been a great handicap. The local club is somewhat short of necessary equipment .just now. some of the pads, bails and wicketkeeping gloves having been removed from the building in Victoria Park since being last used for match purposes some two years ago. The club would welcome donations from the public with which to purchase additional necessary equipment. A practice will be held on Victoria Park pitch on Saturday afternoon. A meeting of delegates to flic Horowhenua/ Cricket Association was held last night at Shannon, Foxton club being represented by Messrs W. Nyo jnr., anil Thorpe. The delegates will report io a Committee meeting to-morrow evening. The first round of the season’s fixtures were drawn up, F ixton meeting Weraroa, at Foxton, on Saturday, November 4th.
