CROQUET.
• The Levin Croquet Club opened its season on AA’ednesdnv, in ideal weather. A’isitors were present from Foxton and Ofaki. The president, Mrs Kirk, opened the season in a short address, welcoming the visitors. The lawns were in excellent condition, and four croquet competitions were entered into with much enthusiasm, llie winners being Ah-s Atkinson (Ofaki) and Airs AA’yllie (Foxton). Prizes were given hv the president, Airs Pink and Mrs Frost. The first ladder match of ihe season was played on Tuesday, Mrs Parkes challenging AL-s Healey, the result being a. win for Mrs Henley by 12 poinls, 20 —1-1. The results of the Twenty Alinufes Tournament, played last AA Tcdnesday were: —-Mrs Head 11, Airs Barr 9, Airs Ball 7, Mrs Evans 6, Mrs Huntley G, Mis Smith fi, Airs Pearson 3, Airs MeCo'll 4. Airs Banks 3. COMPETITION DAY, ArONDAY. A Competitions Day will be held on ihe courts on Alonday (Labour Day). The day’s play will commence ot 10.30 in the morning, and will include golf croquet, breaks, quarter and half an hour singles tournament, target competitions, and Monte Carlo competitions. Trophies will he given for each competition. Seven members 'of the local Club were present at the opening of the Levin Courts on Wednesday last. Airs AA’yllie was successful in winning two of the three competitions held during the afternoon —golf croquet competition and target competition. The local players had a very pleasant time.
