BOWLING.

DIXON CUP MATCH.

The first match this season for the Dixon Cup was played on Saturday til Levin when Levin (Wilson. Rankin, Bull and Clements, jnr., skip) defeated a challenging team from Fox ton. (Ball, Admore, Roore, and Nye, skip). The scores were —Levin 20, Foxton 13. The green was in first-class playing order, but a tricky wind blow, which made play uncertain at times. Both teams played well but Levin was blessed with a certain amount of luck which was responsible for Levin being seven up at the completion of the game. The outing was an enjoyable one, and Levin rink suggested that considering the circumstances of the game, Foxton should enter another challenge immediately.

A meeting of the Committee of the Foxton Bowling Club was held last evening, when it was decided to hold a Competition Day on Labour Day (Monday next). Details of the programme will be seen posted on the board at the green.

The official opening of the Palmerston North Bowling Club’s green will take place on Saturday, 28th inst., at 2 pan. An invitation has been extended to local players to be present.
