CRICKET.
- A general meeting of the Foxton Cricket Club was held in Perraeu’s rooms on Tuesday evening last. .Mr John Chrystall was elected president, and Messrs W. E. Bullard, W. Mye jum\, and ltev. \V. Walton a committee. It was decided to enter a team in the Horowhenua Association Saturday competition,' and also in a Wednesday competition if it is possible to organise one "for that day. The selection of a captain was left tb members of the team. The following letter was received from the secretary of the Horowhenua Association: — “I am extremely pleased to hear that cricket will probably experience a revival in your town and that you 1 will be able to raise two teams. Tbe question of Wednesday competition was- mooted but owing to lack of • information on the matter it was left over until next meeting; as was also the question of junior competition. Your Saturday team will make the fourth entered in the senior competition, and there may be more before the closing date. However, four teams will assure us of a very interesting competition and good cricket will no doubt result. The closing date for nominating teams in the Saturday senior grade is October 21st. Cup 'matches will start on Saturday, .November 4th. Next meeting of delegates will be held at Shannon on Wednesday, October 25th. u! Each senior team entered is entitled to two delegates. Affiliation fee, £1 Is for each senior team, due at date of entry, and must be paid on or before January ,31st. Wishing your club every prosperity during the coming season.”
