MR T. MANN’S VISIT. CAPETOWN, Oct. 2. , Air Tom Maim has arrived at (lie invitation of certain labour organisations. When interviewed, he said he was not out to create trouble, but to help the rebuilding of the trade unions, which apparently were in a bad way. He expressed disapproval of certain features ot the new conciliation scheme, and said his eight years’ Australian experience of similar institutions showed that they did not advance the true interests of the workers, lie was convinced that nothing loss than identification with the international movement would meet the requirements of the future. He also had in view action in connection with the organisation styling itself “Class War Prisoners’ Release Committee,” which had protested against the sentence on the men concerned with the strike, and would join with the Booth African workers in demanding a general amnesty.—A. and N.Z. cable.
