TO-NIGHT! TO-NIGHT! “Way Down Hast'- lias proved its power of fascination in a hundred big cities, and in London at the Empire Theatre it has already passed the six months’ mark in its season, and is still showing to crowded and excited audiences. Its interest never flags for the whole gamut of its seven reels, and when the final climax crashes, pandemonium as a rule reigns at once. The cast was carefully chosen by Griffith, and he revels in the delineation of quaint types, especially among the “down South” rustics. The humour of the play is of the riotfms order, and full of uproarious jollity. The colour work defies description. The acting of the principals is beyond praise. Lilian Gish rises to heights in conjunction with Barthelmess who definitely establishes himself as a hero of heroes. Prices 2/- and 1/-, plus tax. On Friday night “Her Social Value,” a First National Attraction, starring Katherine MacDonald, will be screened. There are dramatic and spectacular thrills in the production, one of the latter being a realistic avalanche of rocks down a mountain side which buries all before it. Extra: “Fantomas.”
