HELP FOR THE REFUGEES.

NEW ZEALAND GIVES ONE THOUSAND POUNDS. GENEVA, Sept. 25. Lord Balfour appealed to the League of Nations to succour the starving Smyrna refugees. Britain is giving £50,000. Sir James Mien moved that the delegates appeal to their respective Governments, asking for replies to-morrow. New Zealand, he said, is giving £IOOO. (Applause.) The motion was carried. it was announced that the refugees number 200.000.—A. and N.Z. cable.
