ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

FOXTON (4) v. LEVIN (3). The above match was played at Levin on Wednesday last. Levin won the toss, and played with the sun behind them. Levin getting possession, took the ball down the field, making for goal, but the onslaught ended by the ball going out of play. An infringement gave Levin a free kick, and the T’oxton goalie saved the spot, but was caught napping with the rebound, and Levin opened the score. Resuming, the Foxton forwards made tracks for goal, but the ball was cleared into midfield, where play ensued for a time. From a throw-in by Hind for Foxton, Francis made a fine run down the line, and placed a good centre, which was saved by the Levin hack, at the expense of n corner kick. Francis taking the corner kick, placed the, ball nicely, from which the desired •result was obtained, making the score one all. The pace became very fast, and the Foxton team attacked, hut the Levin hacks were fairly safe, and held them tit hay for a time. The Foxton forwards were pressing very hard, and another corner kick was given, which Francis again put in a good position. lml the attempt ended by going just over the bar. The Foxton forward line made if hot for the Levin hacks and finally got through with another goal in their favour; score 2 —l for Foxton. Levin fought hard to make headway, which they did little by little, and finally put a shot at goal, heating the goalie all the way —score, 2 all. In the second half Foxton again became dangerous, hut the Lovinites’ defence was sound. Foxton forwards, however, were not to be denied, afid netted another goal. Lovin'-- centre forward gave the Foxton defence a lot of trouble, and he finally broke through and goaled, the score now being 3 all. Midfield play followed, the pace hard all the time, hut ere the whistle sounded for full time, Foxton had netted another goal, thus winning by 4 to 3. Mr Bull, of Levin, had charge of the whistle. So far the Foxton team have played three matches, won two and lost one; 12 goals against 7 goals. The local club communicated with the 'VYjellington Association, informing them a club had been formed about nine weeks ago, and had made fairly good headway, and to create further public interest, and to give the season a good wind up, they asked the above Association to send a team to Foxton to play an exhibition game.
