FIRE BOARD.
The quarterly meeting of the Foxton Fire Board was held at the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs J. Chrystall (chairman), R. Bryant, A. N. Smith, J. K. Hornblow, D. J. Bews, and E, C. Rowe. An apology for absence, through illness, of Mr F. 0. Cray, was received. Superintendent McDermid was in attendance, and was introduced to the Wellington members. It was recommended that the Superintendent present a report to every quarterly meeting of the Board. Decided to refund to the Fire Brigade the sum of £3 3s 9d, being accident assurance contribution paid by them for the current year. The action of the local committee in purchasing Mr F. S. Easton’s section in Hull Street for site for Fire Station was confirmed. Maintenance accounts totalling £29 14s 8d were passed for payment: also capital accounts amounting to £O9 2s, when funds are available. The question of the purchase of uniforms was left in the bands of the local committee. Two minor amendments to the proposed by-laws of the Board wore l made, as indicated by the Minister of Internal Affairs. It was decided that, on approval of the plans and specifications for tho tiro station by the members of the Board, tenders be called for* its erection, and on receipt of same the prices be submitted to the Wellington members of the Board, with a. recommendation from the committee.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the members inspected the site in Hall Street, and conferred with Mr E. Y. West, arch it eel.
