LOCAL DEFAULTING RElk PLAYERS. The question of the Foxton rep. players who had failed to keep their engagements after having been selected came up for consideration by the Horowhenua Rugby Union on Tuesday, the chairman stating that these players had ignored the Union, and something should be done.
Mr Bevan suggested, as a meeting of delegates was to be held shortly, the matter be held over till then and dealt with by the delegates. Mr Percy stated it was creating a-bad precedent to have players acting in this way. It was decided to hold over the matter till the delegates’- meeting. OVERDUE GATE MONEY.
A discussion took place on gate monies owing to the Union by the Foxton and -Shannon eiuhs, and dissatisfaction was expressed that there was so much delay in the payment of these sums. The chairman said there were no rules to support the Union in these matters, which was very unsatisfactory.
Mr Bevan considered that these monies should be got in as soon as possible, so that the Union could get its season's business finished
Mr Bevan moved that the Foxton and Shannon clubs be again written to, pointing out. that all gale monies taken for club matches have not been received by the Union, and unless such money is forthcoming within seven days, more drastic action will be taken to ob-
tain same. This was seconded by Mr Dixon and carried.
