BOWLING.

Bowlers desirous of attending either the Levin or Feilding official opening on the 30th inst. are rer quested to notify the secretary to that effect. One rink for each place is wanted. A very successful “working bee' was held on the local green yesterday afternoon. The green now looks well, with a good bottom of grass, and should prove very satisfactory during the playing season. Applications for the position of caretaker to the Club are invited.

A meeting of the Committee ofthe Bowling Club was held in the pavilion yesterday afternoon, to consider the result of the conference with members of the Croquet Club in connection with afternoon tea arrangements for the coining season.

The following letter was received from the secretary of the Croquet Club; —“At the annual meeting of the Foxton Croquet Club, held on 13th inst., there was a recommendation passed that the Bowling Club carry on tea arrangements the same as last year (including charwoman), and a charge of (id he made to every person who has tea, proceeds to go to the Bowling Club. It was suggested to have plain sweet biscuits, such as wine, rice wafers, etc., which are lid per lb. (same price as cream crackers), and therefore do away with the use of butter. It was also mentioned that when the howlers have visitors, gents put in Is each and purchase cakes, and the croquet playcrs*pay (id each for their tea. and when the Croquet Club have visi-tors.-the ladies provide ancl gents pay (id each for their lea. This should lie a self-supporting proposition.”
