WAR REGULATIONS.
NOT TO APPLY TO BRITISH SUBJECTS. Wellington, Thursday. The House of Representatives passed the War Disabilities Removal Bill to-night. It enables any person . resident in New Zealand who is a British subject, by birth or naturalisation, to be relieved of disabilities under the war regulations. The Minister of Internal Affairs assured the House that as naturalisation was very carefully controlled, it provided ample safeguard against disloyal persons securing privileges. In answering many inquiries as to whether conscientious objectors are still under disability being debarred from voting, the Minister said there was no intention to mitigate this penalty. The Insurance Company Deposits Bill (Mr Lee) was passed, and the Weights and ; Measures Bill (Mr An- . derson) read a second time.
