GAS WORKS.

JULY WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of July was 524,200 ft., which with the amount in the holder in July Ist, 9,400 ft., made a total of 533,600 ft. During the month 430,700 ft. of gas was used by consumers, 32,000 ft in street lamps, 28,000 ft at the works and there was 9,000 ft left in the holder on August Ist, making a total of 499,700 ft., and leaving 33,900 ft., representing 6.7 per cent., unaccounted for. Fifty tons of coal was carbonised during the month, yielding 10,484 c.ft. to the ton. The earnings for the month totallled £3Ol 14s 8d and was made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £124 sd, heat and power £l2l 2s 4d, coke sales £l2 17s sd, tar sales £29 17s, fittings £9 Is 9d, services 11s 3d, labour fittings 4s 3d, miscellaneous £3 10s 3d, a total £3Ol 14s Bd. The expenditure for the month totalled £385 4s 3d and was made up as follows: —Coal £lls 18s lid, salaries and wages £SB 10s Id. meters 6s 6d, fittings £l2 3s, printing and advertising £1 7s 6d, tools 7s od, cartage and freight £1 6s Id, working expenses £3 4s 3d, paint for holders £7 la 6d, general repairs £3 0s 4d, sundries 4s, reorts (material) £63 10s 7d, (freight) £6 4s Id, (wages) £53 8s; interest on sinking fund £59 11s Bd, a total of £385 4s 3d.
