AIMS- OF NATIONALISTS. CAPETOWN, Sept. 2. When interviewed at Bloemfontein in regard to the roported understanding between the Labour and Natioalist parties. General Ilertzog admitted that he had discussed co-operation with Mr Cresswell at the next elections with the object of turning out the Government, hut he denied that any concessions were made as to giving up their independence. lie denied that the Nationalists had ever declared that secession was one of their principles. They insisted oil the independence of the union, but not necessarily as a republic. They also recognised that no such question could be decided without, a referendum. —A. and N.Z. cable.
