WEDDING POSTPONED.
BRIDEGROOM ABSENT. MELBOURNE, Aug. 19. A fashionable marriage arranged for today had to be postponed owing to the absence of the bridegroom. A large number of friends and the bride and her people arrived at St, John’s Church of England, West Melbourne, and waited a long time for the bridegroom to appear. But with a weeping bride and bridesmaids the affair became dismal.
Everybody left the church expressing wonderment at the man’s absence. A reception for 300 people had been arranged at a leading hotel. This, of course, had to be postponed also. The bridegroom arrived at his parents home late to-night. •
