BENZINE FREIGHT.

4* REDUCED CHARGES.

At last night’s meeting of the Palmerston "N. Chamber of Commerce, the Palmerston stationmaster notified that the Railway Department- had decided, from July 24th, to convey benzine at single rate, class “A.”

The reduced charge from Wellington to Palmerston North is now £3 4s 2d per ton, and from Foxton £3 2s 5d per ton, ns against previous charges of £4 16s 3d and £1 12s 7d respectively. Mr IV. H. Oram moved that the Department be informed that benzine is being carried by motor at 2s per case, or £2 10s per ton, from Wellington to Palmerston North, and suggesting that, the Railway Department be asked to meet this price.
