SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the local School Committee was held last night. Present: Messrs (chairman), G. Coley, Cowley, Jno. Ross, Pearson, Perreau, Stevenson, It. Rangiheuea, and the head master (Mr Banks). An apology for absence was received from Mr F. ~ D. Whibley. Correspondence was read and dealt, with as follows From the Board, notifying that a force pump had been forwarded, as requested, and asking that it be erected. —Decided that the matter be left in the hands of Mr Ross and - the head master. From Mr L. J. Furrie, forwarding a letter expressing regret at the death of the late Mr Titos. Henderson, and expressing his sympathy. —The Chairman said the Commit-'"’ tee appreciated Mr Furrie’s thoughtfulness in connection with the loss the Committee had sustained. From the Registrar of Electors and Board re use of schools as polling booths. —The use of school to he granted for the purpose. From the Board, re application for subsidy on flag staff, which was granted, less cost of labour, £2 10s. —Received. Accounts amounting to £l3 O.s 6d were passed for .payment.—They Chairman said the Committee would have to arrange for an overdraft to meet, expenses until the next capitation grant fell due, in October. Messrs Perreau and Pearson were appointed visitors for the month.
